The psychological revolution that Krishnamurti refers to is not only in the conscious mind, but also in the unconscious. He states, 'This is one of our difficulties, perhaps our major difficulty: to be free of the whole content of the unconscious.' This hidden part of our consciousness is the result of 'many thousands of years of man's endeavor; we are the sum total of his struggles, his hopes, his despairs, his everlasting search for something beyond, and this piling up of experience is still going on within us. To be aware of that conditioning, and to be free of it, demands a great deal of attention.'ObThe psychological revolution that Krishnamurti refers to is not only in the conscious mind, but also in the unconscious. In this incredibly penetrating talk, Krishnamurti describes the psychological pressures of life and how these pressures affect right living: We were saying that any form of pressure on the brain affects our whole way of life. We were also saying that this pressure affects our activities, our attitudes, our character, and our way of living. The pressure--economic, social, ethical, and religious--invariably distorts not only our actions but the quality of the brain ... ideals affect, oppress, and act as pressure upon our daily life. Is it possible not to have any ideals but only deal with actually what is? --then there is no pressure whatsoever. Krishnamurti goes on to say that, unless the mind is free of pressure, there is no new way of living. He states that this insight on freedom requires a great deal of investigation into the whole nature and movement of pressure.

Is it possible to live without conflict? Perhaps this is a theoretical question, but it challenges the mind that is trained to accept conflict as a natural part of living. Ultimately, as Krishnamurti explains, the critical importance of that challenge is not to answer yes or no to the possibility of a life without conflict: When you approach a problem, you start with the fact that there is conflict, and you begin to inquire whether it is possible to end it, neither accepting that it can be ended nor asserting that it cannot be ended. Your mind is then in a position to look at the fact; and that is what we must establish between us. An extensive compendium of Krishnamurti's talks and discussions in the USA, Europe, India, New Zealand, and South Africa from 1933 to 1967—the Collected Works have been carefully authenticated against existing transcripts and tapes. Each volume includes a frontispiece photograph of Krishnamurti , with question and subject indexes at the end. The content of each volume is not limited to the subject of the title, but rather offers a unique view of Krishnamurti's extraordinary teachings in selected years. The Collected Works offers the reader the opportunity to explore the early writings and dialogues in their most complete and authentic form.

Krishnamurti stressed that relationship is the mirror in which we see ourselves as we are. 'Topics discussed include the nature of image-making, pleasure and desire, sex, chastity, marriage, and love--When sexual feeling is born out of pleasure it is lust. If it is born out of love it is not lust, even though great delight may then be present.'

Jiddu Krishnamurti (1895-1986) was an independent spiritual teacher for the rest of his life, writing many books such as Krishnamurti Reader: No. 1, You are the World, Commentaries on living;: First series, from the notebooks of J. Krishnamurti. Mary Lutyens (1908-1999) was a British author best known for her three-volume biography of Jiddu Krishnamurti; the other volumes in this series are Krishnamurti: The Years of Fulfilment and Krishnamurti: The Open Door. She wrote in the Foreword to this 1975 book, "This account of the life of the first thirty-eight years of Krishnamurti's life has been written at his suggestion and with all the help he has been able to give me. it shows the circumstances of the unfolding of Krishnamurti's teaching and demonstrates his extraordinary achievement in freeing himself from the many hands that clutched at him in an endeavour to force him into the role of traditional Messiah." He told his audience, "I maintain that Truth is a pathless land, and you cannot approach it by any path whatsoever, by any religion, by any sect... I do not want to belong to any organization of a spiritual kind; please understand this." Lutyens' sympathetic, yet detailed and critical biography is "must reading" for anyone wanting to know more about Krishnamurti.

This book is the second and last volume in a series that presents a collection of dialogues in which renowned educator and religious teacher J. Krishnamurti explores with parents and teachers the need for a radical approach to schooling and their intention to establish such a school in the Ojai valley in California. They discuss the conditioning effects on children and educators of teaching and environments in schools based on traditional methods of education. They look at the stultifying effects of knowledge-based approaches which, instead of broadening the minds of children in a setting that encourages observation and creativity, conditions them to conform to society. To free the mind's broader potential and to educate the whole human being they see that there must be right relationship between students and teachers in an atmosphere of attention, care and trust.

In these talks, given in Ojai and India, Krishnamurti discusses the nature of the observer. He states in the beginning, "to understand the confusion and misery that exist in ourselves, and in the world, we must first find clarity within ourselves and this clarity comes about through right thinking...Right thinking comes with self knowledge. Without understanding yourself, you have no basis for thought; without self-knowledge what you think is not true."

This book comprises eighteen essays which appeared in the monthly
Budo magazine. They are written with simplicity and humour, but with
an underlying discipline and authority derived from a lifetime of spiritual
and martial arts training in Adhyatma Yoga, Judo and Zen. Trevor Leggett
addresses matters including sportsmanship, achieving freedom of mind,
training the inner self, developing an inner calm, and the four keys to
learning – instruction, observation inference and personal experience. He
looks at the cultivation of these Budo qualities and suggests ways in which
the lessons learned can be applied to daily life as well as to the practice
of the martial arts.
